Is it just me, or does it seem as if there is entirely too much emphasis placed on the death of Michael Jackson? Two straight days where the NY local news
stations showed nothing but his death. As if nothing else happened. Yes, he was a popular entertainer- even I never cared for his music. But let's be
brutally honest--he was also a pedophile, child molester, prescription drug abuser, among a host of other problems that contributed to him deteriorating into
what can best be described as some sort of side-show freak. What I find sad is the relative lack of coverage afforded Ed McMahon's passing. Maybe he
wasn't a big "superstar," but, from all accounts he was down-to-earth, approachable, and friendly. He also fought for our country--in two wars!
As a Marine fighter pilot he flew over forty combat missions in WWII, and Korea. He might be remembered as a "second banana," but I'll take one
Ed McMahon over 1,000 Michael Jacksons anyday.
